Case Studies
At Hydraulics Online, our hydraulic engineers work with hydraulic manufacturers, hydraulic distributors and other key hydraulic engineering companies from all over the world to help our customers with: hydraulic engineering projects, hydraulic systems design, sourcing hydraulic equipment and hydraulic components, hydraulic repairs and solving any other hydraulic problems and challenges that come along!
The following case studies provide a snapshot of how we have worked with some of our customers:

The Customer: Alternative Energy Power Company
The Task: Hydraulics Online were approached as the customer’s previous hydraulic supplier had failed to meet expectations. The customer supplied outline requirements and asked Hydraulics Online to propose a brand new hydraulic power pack / hydraulic power unit system.
The Solution: A bespoke hydraulic power pack / hydraulic power unit system was designed, specified and built with many modifications to the original, inherited specification...

The Customer: Key Production Plant to the Brewery Industry.
The Task: To re-engineer, design and supply a more efficient hydraulic power pack /hydraulic power unit within 3 days, as a major production line was down.
The solution: Within 2 hours of receiving the call one of our hydraulic engineers attended site and specified a complete, new and more efficient and powerful hydraulic power pack / hydraulic power unit. The customer issued an immediate purchase order and the hydraulic power p...

The Customer: Commercial Vehicles Repairer
The Task: The customer contacted Hydraulics Online with a reference number for an obsolete Smiths Industries Mk3 hydraulic power pack / hydraulic power unit. A vehicle was off the road and a direct replacement was needed “off the shelf”.
The Solution: Our engineer specified an identical, replacement hydraulic power pack / hydraulic power unit which was then built in our workshop and despatched to our customer the same day, thus minimising downti...
The Customer: Compactor Manufacturer
The Task: Hydraulics Online were consulted to help simplify and redesign an existing hydraulic circuit with the specific objectives of increasing reliability whilst reducing purchasing costs.
The Solution: The team successfully completed the hydraulic system redesign, within budget. As a result, the customer chose to rationalise their supplier accounts for their entire product range and made Hydraulics Online their chosen hydraulics company and single so...

The Customer: Leading Producer of Concrete Products to Civil Engineering, Construction and Agricultural Sectors
The Task: Hydraulics Online were approached to replicate an existing, ageing hydraulic system that was no longer available.
The Solution: The Hydraulics Online design team worked with absolutely minimal information and proposed a much more modern and efficient hydraulic system. This enabled the customer to order and install multiple sets of hydraulic equipment with major co...
The Customer: Bespoke Construction and Engineering Company
The Task: Hydraulics Online were asked to design and supply a complete hydraulic system for use in a disabled household to open and close loft and office access doors hydraulically.
The Solution: A suitable hydraulic system was designed, built and supplied with a complete hydraulic power pack / hydraulic power unit including all relevant hydraulic hoses and fittings. The hydraulic power pack is now installed and working on a daily b...
The Customer: Shredding and Data Disposal Company
The Task: Again, following a search on the internet, Hydraulics Online were contacted to design and supply an efficient hydraulic system to run a mobile compactor and crusher.
The Solution: Hydraulics Online proposed a hydraulic system using Intermot radial piston motors. The vehicle was delivered to Hydraulics Online’s premises and our hydraulic engineer installed the PTO driven power source and hydraulic control valves. A second vehicle ha...
The Customer: Household Name Distribution Company
The Task: Hydraulics Online were asked to identify an unmarked hydraulic power pack /hydraulic power unit and to specify a new, more efficient and cost-effective solution
The Solution: Hydraulics Online successfully submitted their proposed specification and quotation. The hydraulic power packs / hydraulic power units were subsequently built and delivered within the customer’s required shutdown/maintenance period and all are now installed an...
The Customer: Drilling Industry and Oil Exploration Equipment Design and Manufacturer
The Task: Hydraulics Online were contacted by this new customer and asked to provide a quick, competitive quote for 2 replacement Vickers hydraulic pumps.
The Solution: A quote was submitted, the Vickers hydraulic pumps being available from stock. The customer raised their first purchase order and the Vickers hydraulic pumps were despatched the following day.
The Customer: Edinburgh University
The Task: To provide a hydraulic solution (as a concrete testing machine) for destruction tests within the construction industry.
The Solution: Hydraulics Online specified, designed and built a suitable high-pressure hydraulic power pack / hydraulic power unit including actuators which was then supplied to the customer within tight time and budget constraints.

The Customer: Offshore Fishing Vessel
The Task: The customer’s trawler was stranded, unable to operate and therefore earn revenue. Hydraulics Online were approached to supply an alternative hydraulic equipment to a competitor’s product which was on a long lead time.
The Solution: Hydraulics Online sourced an “off the shelf” equivalent item which was then flown into UK within 48 hours, thus minimising the loss in revenue to the customer. No major re-engineering was required.

The Customer: Household Name in Frozen Food Manufacturing
The Task: Three Continental PVR50 hydraulic vane pumps had failed on main production lines and were beyond economical repair. New hydraulic pumps were required urgently to restore production.
The Solution: Hydraulics Online were able to source and import the hydraulic vane pumps within a 48 hour period. They were then delivered to site the same day, enabling downtime on the production line to be kept to a minimum.
